Only one and a half hours from Brisbane you have the opportunity to traverse through the World Heritage listed Gondwana Rainforest of the Scenic Rim. See native fauna and flora in all its glory on this walk venturing through one of Australia’s most unique landscapes. You’ll see the best of the Australian bush with sustainability at the forefront and relaxed luxury as its defining difference.

As an all-inclusive experience guests can relax knowing that everything is taken care of.  Perfect for the avid walker, this unique adventure begins in the foothills of South East Queensland’s Main Range National Park, famous for its stunning collection of peaks, ridges, forests and ancient volcanic plateaus.

Experienced guides will lead you through a region of more than 30,000 hectares of parkland, state forests and national parks. Combined with Spicers Peak Station, a 2,000 hectare private nature refuge, you’ll enjoy an opportunity to explore the Australian bushland with awe-inspiring views across the valleys.

We will ascend the dramatic peaks, ridges and escarpments of the Main Range National Park from the Mistake Mountains in the north to Cunningham’s Gap in the south. Spend most nights in unique eco accommodation and at the end of each day be welcomed with a cool beverage and hot shower, all while experiencing the relaxed luxury service Spicers is renowned for.

Day 1

Spicers Hidden Vale

Meet and greet at Spicers Hidden Vale/ After lunch join researchers for a Koala Safari. Enjoy a group welcome dinner tonight

Day 2

To Spicers Mount Mistake Farmhouse

10km | approx. 7-8hrs
550m ascent | moderate to hard
After breakfast you will be transferred to the start of the walk. Magnificent views and wildlife spotting are on the agenda today with sightings of the endangered brush tailed rock wallaby a possibility. Today’s hike is approx. 10km. An adventurous day that sees you climb up onto the Mistake Mountain Range with a 600m ascent. The ecosystem is dry sclerophyll forest with incredible views afforded throughout the day. Tonight you will stay in our off-grid Spicers Mount Mistake Farmhouse and enjoy a relaxing evening around the roaring fire.

Day 3

To Spicers Amphitheatre Eco Cabins

18km | approx. 8hrs
Easy to Moderate | Morning tea and lunch on trail
Sunrise on the edge of the escarpment offers a beautiful start to your day. Today we'll cover a total distance of approx. 18km starting with a meandering climb where you’ll have your first Gondwana Rainforest encounter, a taste of what’s to come. In the final portion of the day we step deep into the rainforest on a private Grade 5 track that takes us into camp at the beautiful Spicers Amphitheatre Eco Cabins.

Day 4

To Spicers Timber Getters Eco Cabins

16km | approx. 8hrs
Moderate to hard | Morning tea and lunch on trail
Wake to see the tops of the trees rustling in the morning breeze. After a hearty breakfast and some morning stretches on the deck you’ll walk out of camp enjoying the sounds of the rainforest birds as we go. As we decend into the valley we become enveloped by rainforest enjoying plenty of stops so you can look up and marvel at the canopy and greenery around you.

Day 5

Spicers Hidden Peaks Cabins

16km | approx. 8hrs
Moderate | Morning tea and lunch on trail
Starting the day with a heartwarming climb up the fire trail past an old pine plantation, at the top you'll once again head deep into the rainforest. You'll come across some huge rainforest trees with buttresses 6 feet tall. The pace is slower to here to take care with your footing, navigating the tree roots and rocky sections. As you emerge from deep in the rainforest you climb up and over Bare Rock offering 360 degree views . This is the final section with vehicles awaiting your return at the end of the trail ready to whisk you away to Spicers Hidden Peaks Cabins. Staying in handmade timber huts each with their own ensuite, Spicers Hidden Peaks is a stunning place to spend your last night with the and views to the mountain range you just conquered in the background. A celebration dinner is enjoyed by all tonight, sharing stories of the journey and delighting in what you have experienced.

Day 8

Return to Brisbane

The morning tomorrow is at your leisure with breakfast from 8am. Enjoy some free time before you depart. You may wish to finish off your trip in style with a bird's eye view of the trail with a helicopter transfer back to Spicers Hidden Vale.
