An African Safari adventure that from day one is packed with exotic African wildlife and breathtaking scenery. We are all about spending quality time in all the major areas to enjoy and explore, not just passing through. With a host team of three staff who love Africa, plus, top class accommodation, all meals, activities, gratuities and transport, you are ensured a smooth and fun journey with our unique itinerary providing the magic.
Overlanding for grownups in comfort and style
- The New and Improved Beast – On our “Back to Africa 2022 Safari”, we will be launching a new, bigger better and more beautiful overland safari vehicle, The Beast, as our primary means of transport. New suspension, improved seating with better window viewing and more storage and cabin space will ensure an even more comfortable adventure around the roads of southern Africa. We will also be utilizing small 4wd vehicles, canoes, motorboats and charter flights throughout the journey to ensure you get to experience your safari up close and personal.
- A dedicated Safari Crew – Trish and Jim, local safari guides and Henry our expert driver will share this journey with you. Specialist guides will join us from time to time in areas where extra local knowledge and experience is required.
- Personally styled Itinerary – we journey with a very relaxed pace on our personally hand stitched Victoria Falls to Windhoek Itinerary. No safari operator offers an experience that can match our unique itinerary and style while travelling through 3 countries.

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Day 1Arriving at Victoria Falls International Terminal, you are welcomed by Trish your safari leader and transferred to the small, family owned Bayete Lodge, your ‘African Home Away from Home’. Tonight you meet your fellow Safari goers and enjoy a relaxed dinner cruise on the mighty Zambezi River. Great hippo viewing and stunning sunsets (D).
Day 2After breakfast, you start the day with a private guided walking tour of the spectacular Victoria Falls. The remainder of the day is free to partake in the numerous optional activities the Falls has to offer, including canoeing on the mighty Zambezi, scenic flights and plenty for the adrenalin junkies including the famous Vic Falls Bungy jumping. This evening, we will meet up to share a special African dinner (BD).
Day 3Day at leisure in Victoria Falls. Some Safari members will be involved in optional activities. A good option is to have ‘High Tea’ consisting of cucumber sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, all served from silver platters while seated on the cool veranda of the Victoria Falls Hotel. A walk around town and a visit to the curio markets is a must. Tonight you celebrate your last night before departing the Falls with a dinner at the Lookout Restaurant. (BD)
Chobe National Park, Botswana
Day 4After a leisurely breakfast, you board The Beast and cross into Botswana. A short drive takes us to the world famous Chobe National Park. After checking into the Chobe Safari Lodge we head out on a captivating private lunch cruise on the mighty Chobe River. This a highlight, the variety of animals and birdlife viewed from your boat is incredible. After your return, meet to watch the African sun set on your first safari day (BLD).

Day 5After a delicious breakfast, we board The Beast and drive south to Planet Baobab to enjoy our Meerkat Bonus Adventure. It's the coolest desert oasis around and a part of Africa that only a few experience and on that will definitely remember. This afternoon we'll enjoy a sunset bushwalk before returning to our quirky and comfortable accommodation (BLD).
Day 6Up early to visit Ntwetwe Pan home of hte Kalahari Cool Cats - the Meerkats! After lunch we'll take the take the short drive to our accommodation for the night at Maun Lodge (BLD).
Moremi Wildlife Reserve
Day 7We head off after breakfast to the Moremi Wildlife Reserve to start our 3days glamping here on the Khwai River. On arrival at Khwai, we are met by our specialist Botswanan Safari Guides (who are long term friends of Back Track) and transported by small 4WD vehicles to our private bush camp.

Day 8Up early, we have a quick cuppa and head off to discover the wildlife in the active early hours of the day. We head back to camp for a delicious brunch and a rest before another later afternoon game drive. Tonight enjoy the sounds of Africa around the campfire.

Day 9Another wonderful day in this special area exploring. You can spend a half day on the waterways of the Delta in local canoes (mekoros) being poled by locals who know the area intimately. Birdlife is prolific and canoeing provides an interesting perspective on this incredible eco system. If conditions are right, you will visit any nearby hippo pods.
Day 10This morning you enjoy your last game drive in Moremi as you head back to Khwai airstrip, say goodbye to your new friends and local guides and enjoy a scenic flight to Seronga Boat Station. Here you board high speed motor boats and experience a thrilling ride through the narrow channels of the Okavavgo Panhandle to Sepopa where The Beast will be waiting for you. We will travel to Hakusembe River Lodge near Rundu arriving late afternoon in time to relax and enjoy a cold beverage before dinner. Sit back and enjoy another beautiful African sunset. (BLD)
Etosha National Park, Namutoni Lodge
Day 11 - 12We take a very leisurely approach to the todays journey as we travel to Etosha National Park. For the next 2nights we stay at welcoming at Namutoni in very comfortable Chalet's. After dinner and a drink or two at the Lodge Bar, a stroll to the waterhole will hopefully provide a grand wildlife encounter. On your second day here, you will explore the area using the Beast. Etosha National Park, Okakeujo Lodge
Day 13 - 14We have two nights at Okakeujo Wildlife Resort. Your accommodation is 4 star. We have booked early in order to secure waterhole chalets located right at the waterhole. From your chalets, at night and during the day, from safe viewing areas you can observe the abundant wildlife that visit the waterhole. Animal activity at the waterhole is amazing. During the day you can also journey out into the park on wildlife expeditions. (BLD)
Day 15A long, but beautiful drive today through stunning desert scenery. On the way, you stop for fuel and supplies at Outjo where you might encounter the colourful Herero people and people from the remote nomadic Himba tribes that come from isolated areas on the Angola border. Your home for the next two nights is at Twyelfontein Country Club in the Kunene region of Namibia. The entire area, is now known as the Twyfelfontein Uibasen Conservancy, and boasts a multitude of rock engravings and paintings. It was declared Namibia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. Day 16Today, you will leisurely explore the area. You leave the lodge early morning just after breakfast and visit the Burned Mountain, Petrified Forest and the Organ Pipes. Back to the Country Club in time for a cool swim and sundowners. (BLD)
Day 17Depart early for the Atlantic Ocean Coast and the stunning views. Arriving at Cape Cross, you will encounter one of the largest fur seal colonies in Southern Africa. Nearby is your accommodation at Cape Cross Lodge right on the Atlantic ocean beach. The foggy Atlantic Ocean ambience of the Lodge is spectacular, especially after your time in the deserts. All rooms look out over the big Atlantic swells. (BLD)
Day 18 - 19Up early and head for Swakopmund, further south on the Atlantic Ocean. With its old-world charm and relaxed atmosphere, it’s your base for 2 nights. You'll enjoy a beach BBQ and a dinner at a local Swakopmund restaurant. Accommodation for the two nights is at Alte Brucke Lodge, located within easy walking distance of ‘downtown’ Swakopmund. (BLD)
Day 20 - 21Leaving Swakopmund we head south to the Namib Naukluft National Park. This is the home of world’s largest red sand dunes, some reaching 300 metres. You have 2 nights here and ample time to explore and to climb one of the beautiful red dunes for stunning views out over the desert. Your home for 2 nights is Moon Mountain Lodge. It affords beautiful desert views from all chalets. A wonderful location from which to explore the region. (BLD)
Day 22Another early start has you heading back North East to Windhoek the Capital City of Namibia. Tonight we head out for your last nights’ dinner at famous Joe’s Beer House. The Great Southern Africa Safari is truly a unique and extraordinary itinerary and offers an insight into Africa in a very comfortable style. Love to have you on board. (BLD)
Day 23After breakfast a transfer is provided to connect with your departure flight. The end to an amazing African Safari experience. (B)
